Bangladesh Visa Fees for Indians - 2026 Quick Answer

As of October 2026, Bangladesh charges Indian citizens no visa fee in any category, business and tourist included. The Deputy High Commission in Chennai states this on a fee page updated on 27 September 2026, and the missions in Mumbai, Kolkata, Guwahati and New Delhi say the same.

The only compulsory payment is the INR 825 service fee (INR 699.50 plus taxes) of the Bangladesh Visa Application Centre (BDVAC). It applies only when you apply through its centres in West Bengal and Assam: Kolkata, Siliguri, Guwahati, Bongaigaon and Silchar. Which Visa You Need - Business, Tourist or Visa on Arrival

Indian citizens need a visa for Bangladesh, as the High Commission in New Delhi confirms in its general FAQ. Most travellers choose between two categories.

Business visa (B)

This is the visa for meetings, negotiations, trade fairs, quality checks and buying trips, according to a 2019 Home Ministry circular that the new Visa Policy 2026 is set to replace. Employment is not allowed on it.

An older page of the High Commission in Delhi says a business visa may be issued for up to one year with single, double or multiple entries, usually with up to 30 days per visit. The mission decides the terms case by case, and the sticker shows your permitted stay.

Tourist visa (T)

This one covers holidays and visits to friends or relatives. The 2019 circular also places conferences, workshops and seminars under T and sets three months' validity, single entry and a 30-day stay. No India-specific page confirms these numbers for 2026, so check the visa once it is issued.

Delhi's tourist checklist asks for a No Objection Certificate and either an invitation from a Bangladeshi citizen with their NID or passport copy, or a hotel booking with the last three months' bank statement.

Visa on arrival

Not an option. The Deputy High Commission in Chennai states that visa on arrival is not applicable to Indian nationals.

Visa Fee for Indian Citizens and What It Covers

Every mission that publishes fee information agrees, as checked in October 2026.

• Chennai, page updated 27 September 2026: no fees for Indian passport holders.
• Mumbai: no fees for Indian citizens, so the payment step of the online form can be skipped. Fees apply to third-country nationals.
• Kolkata: no visa fee for Indian citizens.
• Guwahati: no fee in any category. Applicants who are asked to pay are invited to report it to the mission.
• New Delhi, checklist updated April 2026: no fee for Indian citizens.

The Bangladesh High Commission in London says visa fees are set on the basis of reciprocity. That general principle would explain the zero fee for Indians, though no mission in India states the reason.

The BDVAC service fee

BDVAC, run by DU Digital, takes applications in West Bengal for the Kolkata mission and in Assam for the Guwahati mission. Its fee page confirms the visa is free for Indians and charges INR 699.50 plus taxes, INR 825 in total, for passing the application to the mission. BDVAC calls its role purely administrative. It accepts and returns passports, and the decision stays with the mission.

So a Kolkata applicant pays INR 825, or INR 1,525 with courier and form help. Applicants in Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi or Agartala face no listed fee at the mission. There is no paid express visa, and the lounge does not speed up the decision.

How to Apply - Online Form, Visa Centres and Missions

Bangladesh does not offer Indians an e-visa. You fill in the form on the official online visa portal, print it and hand it in with your documents to get a visa sticker in your passport.

Steps

• Complete the online form. Indians skip the payment section, as the Mumbai mission explains.
• Give a stay address in Bangladesh, which BDVAC lists as compulsory.
• Print the form: two copies for Delhi, signed in blue ink for Mumbai.
• Add your documents and any old passports.
• Submit at the office covering your state and collect the passport when it is ready.

• Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh: BDVAC Guwahati, Bongaigaon or Silchar, for the Guwahati mission.

• Tripura: Assistant High Commission Agartala.
• Other states: usually the High Commission New Delhi. BDVAC's doorstep service also covers Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Sikkim. Delhi does not publish visa hours online, so we recommend confirming your mission and hours before you go.

BDVAC centres work Monday to Friday. They take applications from 9am to 3pm and return passports from 1pm to 5pm, once you get the message "Your Passport is ready for collection".

Documents for a Business Visa

Checklists differ by mission, so the one for your state is the one to follow. As of October 2026, the core papers are these.

Extra papers by mission

• New Delhi: the inviting company's trade licence and its income tax or TIN/BIN certificate, plus your company's GST.
• Kolkata and Agartala: an application on your company letterhead, a recommendation from the relevant Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, trade licence, export-import licence and the last LC or Bill of Entry. Kolkata adds proof of residence, Agartala a bank statement.
• Chennai: a chamber recommendation, or a certificate of incorporation or proof of ownership, plus visiting card, official ID, Aadhaar or PAN, utility bill, bank statement, flight details and a hotel booking if the host does not cover your stay. The cover letter goes to the Visa Officer with your name, designation and passport number.
• Mumbai: three months' bank statement, itinerary and hotel confirmation, plus proof that you run or represent a business. Its sheet mixes tourist and business items, so confirm the list with the mission.

Chennai, Agartala and Mumbai list a bank statement, Mumbai for the last three months, but no checklist sets a minimum balance. Chennai still lists a two-dose Covid vaccination certificate on pages edited in September 2026, and the BDVAC tourist page mentions one too. It is probably a leftover, but it is worth carrying if you have it.

After checking the file, the consular officer may ask for an interview or extra documents, the Agartala mission notes.

Processing Time and Validity

The only official figure comes from an older page of the High Commission in Delhi: at least five working days. The text sits on its legacy page for government delegates but is worded for all applications. Some cases need extra processing that cannot be expedited, and Delhi recommends not buying flight tickets until the passport with the visa is back.

Other missions publish no timeline. BDVAC sends a message when the passport is ready, and Agartala warns that a referral to Bangladesh for clearance can delay the visa. Holidays add days too. In October 2026 BDVAC closed for Durga Puja from 20 to 22 October in West Bengal and on 20 and 21 October in Assam.

Validity

• Business: up to one year, single, double or multiple entry, usually 30 days per visit, according to the Delhi page and the 2019 circular. The mission sets the actual terms.
• Tourist: three months, single entry, 30 days' stay under the 2019 rules.
• Start date: validity runs from the date of issue, not your travel date, the Delhi page notes.

The Visa Policy 2026 is set to cancel the 2019 circular, so treat its numbers as the rules in force before the new policy.

Extensions

The Department of Immigration and Passports in Dhaka handles extensions. Its 2018 guidance asks for a business certificate or trade licence, a tax certificate, the local sponsor's recommendation and a favourable police report. Official sources differ on the maximum length, so confirm it with the department.

Visa on Arrival - Why It Does Not Apply to Indians

On a page updated on 26 September 2026, the Deputy High Commission in Chennai states that visa on arrival is not applicable to Indian nationals. That includes business travellers, so Indians need the visa before travelling, by air or by land.

A business visa on arrival does exist for other nationalities. Chennai describes it: an employer's introduction letter, a Bangladeshi invitation and advance notice to immigration, up to 30 days' stay, a USD 50 cash fee, at least USD 500 and a return ticket.

The Special Branch of Bangladesh Police lists who qualifies. That means nationals of countries without a Bangladesh mission or that give Bangladeshis visas on arrival, plus investors, exporters and government-seminar attendees with papers from bodies such as BOI, BEPZA, BGMEA or FBCCI. The immigration officer grants it, single entry.

Recent Changes (2025-2026)

The timeline below relies on news reports. No mission site we checked carries an official notice of the suspension or the restart.

• December 2024: visa issuance for Indians at the Kolkata mission was scaled back, The Financial Express reported, citing Samakal.
• 22 December 2025: services were suspended in New Delhi, Agartala and at the Siliguri centre, according to Pakistan Observer and Outlook Traveller.
• 9 January 2026: the Foreign Affairs Adviser said he had asked three missions to keep their visa sections closed for the time being, citing security. Sources quoted by The Daily Star named New Delhi, Kolkata and Agartala, with Chennai and Mumbai open.
• 15 January to 15 February 2026: tourist visas were paused around the 12 February election, urgent cases excepted, ANI reported.
• 20 February 2026: a limited restart for all categories, Bangladesh Monitor reported.
• 23 February 2026: tourist visas widely resumed, a foreign ministry official told ANI, adding that neither the stop nor the restart was formally announced.

The scope varied by mission, and reports conflict. Outlook Traveller reported in late February that tourist, business, medical and student visas were available again, with appointments reopening in stages.

Status in October 2026

As of October 2026, missions and visa centres in India are accepting applications. Chennai updated its requirement pages on 26 and 27 September, BDVAC closed only for Durga Puja, and Mumbai's homepage shows routine holiday notices. We found no official list of open categories, so we recommend checking with your mission before applying.

Visa Policy 2026 and online VOA

Bangladesh's Cabinet approved the draft Visa Policy 2026 on 10 August 2026, The Business Standard reported. It has 34 categories, up from 33 in the 2006 policy, and all earlier circulars are to be cancelled. The final text and start date were not published at the time of writing, and nothing was said about fees for Indians. Mission pages edited in September 2026 still show no fee.

In August 2026 Dhaka airport also moved visa-on-arrival and transit applications online. It serves eligible nationalities only and does not apply to Indians.
