Do Indians Need a Visa for Indonesia? (Direct Answer)

Yes. As of September 2026, Indian passport holders do not get visa-free entry to Indonesia. India is on the official list of Visa on Arrival subject countries, so Indians qualify for the visa on arrival (VOA) and its electronic version, the e-VOA.

Both lead to the B1 visa: single entry, with a first stay of up to 30 days counted from the arrival date, extendable once to 60 days in total.

Indonesia did widen visa-free entry in 2026. Regulation No. 10 of 2026, signed by Minister of Immigration and Corrections Agus Andrianto on 7 July 2026, added Turkiye, Brazil, Peru, Kazakhstan, Macau and Belarus. India was not among them.

India was named in a June 2026 Tourism Ministry proposal for visa-free visits, but its inclusion has not been approved, so we recommend planning around the VOA or e-VOA.

Visa on Arrival vs e-VOA for Indians

Both routes give the same B1 visa, which covers tourism, business and medical treatment. They differ in where you apply and how you pay.

• e-VOA — an online application before travel, through evisa.imigrasi.go.id or the VFS channel indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id, both listed by Indonesia's immigration directorate. The eVisa portal accepts Mastercard, Visa or JCB credit cards.
• VOA on arrival — issued at the port of entry, with payment at the designated bank counter in the immigration area of the airport or seaport.

As of September 2026, both cost IDR 500,000. We recommend the e-VOA: the visa is issued before you fly, and under the fee plan announced in August 2026, which has no published effective date, the online route would cost less.

Indonesian fees are set in rupiah (IDR), so the rupee cost depends on the exchange rate when you pay. Official figures as of September 2026:

• e-VOA or VOA on arrival (B1, up to 30 days) — IDR 500,000
• Extension by 30 days (visit stay permit, ITK) — IDR 500,000 per application
• Bali foreign tourist levy — IDR 150,000 per person, paid once per trip before leaving Indonesia

Without an extension, the visa fee plus the Bali levy comes to IDR 650,000 for one adult.

The levy is collected through the Love Bali system, live since 14 February 2024, and the official Love Bali site strongly encourages paying online before flying to Bali.

The announced fee increase

On 12 August 2026, Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko announced a two-tier plan: IDR 750,000 for an e-VOA arranged from the home country and IDR 1,000,000 for a VOA arranged on arrival. No effective date has been published, and the official eVisa portal still listed IDR 500,000 in September 2026, so we recommend checking it before paying.

How to Apply for the e-VOA Step by Step

The eVisa portal advises submitting the request at least 48 hours before departure. The steps below follow its requirements as of September 2026.

• Step 1, passport — valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival in Indonesia.
• Step 2, files — a scan of the full passport biodata page and a passport-size photo in JPG, JPEG or PNG format, plus an email address.
• Step 3, portal — evisa.imigrasi.go.id, or the VFS channel indonesiavoa.vfsevisa.id listed by the immigration directorate.
• Step 4, application — the online form, with the passport scan and photo uploaded.
• Step 5, payment — within 120 minutes of the payment confirmation page, by Mastercard, Visa or JCB credit card, which does not have to be in the applicant's name.
• Step 6, travel — the e-VOA has to be used within 90 days of its issue date.

In a 2023 warning, Indonesian immigration authorities said third-party e-VOA websites are not endorsed by or associated with the Indonesian government. We recommend treating look-alike sites as unofficial and checking the web address before entering card details.

Entry Requirements - Passport, Return Ticket and the Arrival Card

Indian travellers on a B1 VOA or e-VOA typically need, as of September 2026:

• A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of arrival.
• A return ticket or an onward ticket to another country.
• A completed All Indonesia arrival declaration.

A January 2023 Indonesian Embassy consular page also says a VOA passport needs at least one blank visa page. Current official e-VOA pages do not mention it, so we suggest keeping one as a precaution, not as a confirmed 2026 rule.

All Indonesia arrival declaration

All Indonesia combines the immigration, customs, health and quarantine arrival forms in one free digital system, so the separate electronic customs declaration (e-CD) is no longer needed. Trade media say it also replaced the former health declaration (SATUSEHAT).

• Mandatory since 1 September 2025 at the Jakarta, Surabaya and Bali airports and Batam's international seaports, and at every airport and seaport since 1 October 2025.
• Can be completed from 3 days before arrival or on landing, at allindonesia.imigrasi.go.id or in the app on Google Play and the App Store.

In March 2026, a Bali news outlet reported phishing emails to e-visa applicants demanding payment for a "mandatory arrival card", followed by a request for a cryptocurrency transfer. The official declaration is free.

Staying Longer - Extension and Other Visa Options

A B1 VOA or e-VOA can be extended once, by 30 days, for a total stay of up to 60 days. The extension is a 30-day visit stay permit (ITK) costing IDR 500,000 per application as of September 2026.

Since 29 May 2025 (Circular IMI-417.GR.01.01 of 2025), VOA holders extending their stay register and upload documents at evisa.imigrasi.go.id, then attend an immigration office for a photo and an interview.

We recommend starting well before the permit ends, no later than about 7 days before expiry. That is general guidance from a 2024 regional office page; timing can differ between offices.

Overstaying costs far more: an immigration office tariff page based on Government Regulation 45 of 2024 lists IDR 1,000,000 per day for overstays of up to 60 days.

If you need more than 60 days

An e-VOA cannot be converted into another visa or stay permit, so longer stays are best planned on a different visa from the start. Options as of September 2026:

• C1 single-entry tourist visit visa — up to 60 days from arrival, extendable several times to 180 days in total; IDR 1,000,000; a bank statement for the last 3 months showing at least USD 2,000 (yours or a guarantor's); no sponsor needed.
• D1 multiple-entry tourist visit visa — up to 60 days per arrival; IDR 3,000,000 for the version valid for up to 1 year.

Recent Changes (2025-2026)

• 29 May 2025 — stay extensions, VOA holders included, began to require an in-person photo and interview.
• June 2025 — Indonesia cut its visa categories from 133 to 110; VOA applicants now use index B1.
• September-October 2025 — All Indonesia became mandatory, first at three airports and Batam's seaports, then at every airport and seaport.
• June 2026 — Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana proposed visa-free visits for an "8+1" group that included India. Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko asked for the proposal to be reconsidered, saying visa-free visits had been tried before.
• 7 July 2026 — Regulation No. 10 of 2026 added six jurisdictions to the visa-free list, including Belarus, Kazakhstan and Macau from the "8+1" group, but not India.
