Do Indians Need a Visa for Singapore? (Direct Answer)

Yes. Indian passport holders need a visa for Singapore in 2026, and there is no visa on arrival.

Singapore's Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) says holders of Indian travel documents need a visa, while diplomatic, official and service passports are exempt. The Singapore High Commission in New Delhi confirms the rule for Indian citizens (August 2026).

Is There a Visa on Arrival in Singapore for Indians?

No. ICA does not accept visa applications at its immigration counters (ICA page updated 25 June 2026). A visa cannot be arranged after landing.

The High Commission in New Delhi adds that an Indian traveller without a valid visa who is not eligible for the VFTF will not be allowed to enter. Since 30 January 2026, ICA can also issue No-Boarding Directives to airlines against such travellers.

How Indians Get a Singapore Visa - Authorised Agents and the e-Visa

According to ICA, applicants without a local contact in Singapore holding a Singpass or Corppass account apply through an authorised visa agent appointed by a Singapore Overseas Mission, or at the nearest mission.

In Mumbai, the Consulate-General no longer accepts walk-ins: all applications go through the Electronic Visa (E-Visa) system, and only its Authorised Visa Agents may submit them online.

So "e-Visa" means the electronic system and the visa format, not a do-it-yourself portal. Once an application is approved, ICA issues the visa as a PDF document.

When to apply

ICA advises applying within 30 days before arrival. The Consulate-General in Chennai recommends at least one week ahead off-peak, and two to four weeks ahead in the March to May peak season.

As of September 2026, the High Commission in New Delhi says processing generally takes 3 to 5 working days, excluding the submission day, weekends and public holidays. Some applications may take longer.

Visa-Free Transit Facility (VFTF) - 96 Hours

ICA says Indian nationals in transit to or from any third country via Singapore may be eligible for the 96-hour VFTF (ICA page last updated 1 August 2025). The requirements:

• A valid visa or long-term pass issued by, or good for entry into, Australia, Canada, Germany, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, the UK or the USA
• Validity of at least one month on that visa or pass from the date of entry into Singapore
• A Schengen visa counts only if it is valid for Germany or Switzerland, according to the High Commission in New Delhi
• Entry by any mode of transport, but departure by air or sea only
• A valid onward air, ferry or cruise ticket departing Singapore within 96 hours

Travellers who qualify still have to meet Singapore's prevailing entry requirements. A VFTF stay cannot be extended.

A used single-journey visa may still qualify on the return leg, if the traveller goes directly from the issuing country via Singapore back home and has not returned home since using it.

The third-country condition matters. A 2026 visa guide reads it as excluding a simple India-Singapore-India return, which is generally not treated as transit.

Together, that is INR 3,400 per application. ICA's India page also lists a non-refundable S$30 processing fee. That is ICA's base fee, which applicants in India pay as the INR 2,100 visa fee through an authorised agent in 2026, not an extra charge.

SG Arrival Card and Entry Checks

All travellers entering Singapore need to submit the SG Arrival Card (SGAC) within three days before arrival, including the day of arrival. Passengers transiting without clearing immigration are exempt.

Submission is free via ICA's SGAC e-Service or the MyICA mobile app, and ICA does not endorse commercial services that charge a fee for it. The card is not a visa. Travellers who fail to submit it may be denied entry.

Since 11 March 2022, foreign visitors get their Visit Pass (e-Pass) by email, with no passport endorsement, so the SGAC needs a valid email address.

At immigration, ICA requires biometrics such as fingerprints, facial and iris images, and travellers who fail to comply may be denied entry. All foreign visitors can use the automated lanes at passenger halls without prior enrolment, if their ICAO-compliant passport is valid for at least six months.

A visa does not guarantee entry. The High Commission in New Delhi says visitors also need a valid passport, sufficient funds for the stay and a confirmed onward or return ticket where applicable. We found no official minimum amount for funds.

Recent Changes (2025-2026)

• 1 January 2026: the INR 2,100 visa fee took effect for applications made in India, according to the Consulate-General in Mumbai.
• 30 January 2026: ICA can issue No-Boarding Directives to airline operators at Changi and Seletar airports, including against travellers who lack a valid visa or a travel document with at least six months' validity.
• April 2026: VFS Global became an Authorised Visa Agent for Singapore visas in Chandigarh and Chennai.
• 1 August 2026: the agent service charge rose from INR 1,000 to INR 1,300, according to authorised agent FCM Travel (we found no separate official notice). New Delhi's agent list dated 1 July 2026 still showed INR 1,000.
• 26 August 2026: according to VisasNews citing an ICA announcement, early access to a redesigned SG Arrival Card in 19 languages (up from 12, including Hindi, Tamil and Bengali) was due to open; the rollout and language list may change.
