UAE Business Visa - 2026 Quick Answer

The UAE has no single "business visa". As of October 2026, a short business trip to Dubai or Abu Dhabi uses one of five routes, chosen by passport, residence status and purpose.

For most business visitors the closest match is the visit visa to explore business and investment opportunities. It needs no UAE sponsor, is issued as single entry for 60, 90 or 120 days, and GDRFA Dubai lists a 48-hour completion time. The GDRFA fee card on 23 October 2026 shows AED 200, 300 or 400 plus 5% VAT and a refundable AED 1,000 deposit.

Conference and exhibition visitors can use the Events Visit Visa through the organiser. Actual temporary work needs a work-mission permit filed by a UAE employer with approval from the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE).

Do You Need a Visa - Visa-Free, Visa on Arrival or eVisa

The official UAE government portal sorts visitors into three groups. GCC citizens need no visa, some nationalities get a visa on arrival, and the rest apply in advance. Passports typically need six months of validity from the date of entry.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs marks the US and the UK as "Visa Free". The federal portal did not confirm the visa-free length of stay in October 2026, so we recommend checking it with your airline.

Visa on arrival for Indian business travellers

Since ICP's update of 25 June 2026, Indian nationals qualify if they hold a valid residence permit from the US, an EU member state, the UK, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New Zealand or Canada. Accompanying family members need to meet the same conditions. ICP lists two options:

• 14-day visa: AED 100, extendable once inside the UAE
• 60-day visa: AED 250, single entry, not extendable

GDRFA Dubai's online pre-approval card shows AED 253 in total and a 48-hour completion time. Its older eligibility text mentions a US visa or green card, but ICP's June 2026 wording refers to residence permits only, so a US visitor visa alone should not be treated as enough. We recommend confirming with your airline or GDRFA before flying.

Indians living in the Gulf

Indians resident in another GCC state use the GCC-resident eVisa, applied for online and issued before arrival. According to the official portal, it is valid for 30 days from issue, allows a 30-day stay and can be extended once for 30 days.

Business Visit Visa vs Visit Visa - Which One Fits

The names cause most of the confusion. On GDRFA Dubai's website, the "business visit visa" is the work-mission visa, which needs MOHRE approval and covers temporary work. The self-sponsored option is called "visit visa for the purpose of exploring business opportunities" at GDRFA and "visit visa to explore investment opportunities" on the federal portal.

Visit visa to explore business opportunities

GDRFA grants this visa for researching and exploring business opportunities, with no sponsor or host in the UAE. The federal portal lists it as single entry for 60, 90 or 120 days. GDRFA's card mentions single or multiple entries, and ICP's 2024 services guide sets a higher guarantee for multiple trips, so it is worth checking which option the form offers.

The portal expects applicants to be financially solvent, a talent or highly qualified, a professional in the prospective business in their home country, and able to pay the financial guarantee.

Tourist visa

As listed by GDRFA Dubai on 23 October 2026, the single-entry tourist visa costs AED 200 for 30 days or AED 300 for 60 days, plus 5% VAT, with no deposit and a 48-hour completion time.

The 5-year multiple-entry visa is also a tourist visa, not a business one. GDRFA lists AED 3,713 in total, including an AED 3,000 guarantee. Stays run up to 90 days at a time and 180 days a year, and applicants show a USD 4,000 bank balance over the previous six months.

Events Visit Visa

ICP created this visa in a decision announced on 29 September 2025. It covers stays to attend a festival, exhibition, conference, seminar or similar event. The sponsor is a public- or private-sector entity that issues a letter with the event details and duration.

Gulf News reported in July 2026, citing GDRFA Dubai, that organisers first apply for a participant quota and that stays are 30 or 60 days, up to 120 days in total. We found no official card with a fee or processing time as of October 2026, so the organiser is the best source for both.

Work-mission entry permit

For actual temporary work, ICP's live card lists a work-mission category for government, private or free-zone entities, with MOHRE approval where the employer falls under the labour relations law. ICP's 2024 services guide describes a 90-day stay from entry. The live cards confirm one MOHRE-approved extension but do not state the 90 days.

Who Can Sponsor or Apply - Company, Hotel, Airline or ICP/GDRFA

Depending on the visa, ICP's FAQ says the application comes from the visitor, a sponsor such as an employer or tourism establishment, or a government or private entity:

• Business-opportunities visa: you apply yourself, no UAE sponsor needed
• Tourist visa: a UAE airline, hotel or licensed travel agent arranges it
• Events Visit Visa: the organiser sponsors you and issues a letter
• Work mission: the UAE employer files it with MOHRE approval

According to the official portal, airlines set their own conditions, including flying with them. Licensed travel agents and hotels can arrange a tourist visa if you buy the ticket through them and keep a booking at the hotel. UAE embassies do not issue tourist visas. In Dubai, only accredited tourism offices can issue the single-entry tourist visa.

ICP's card says a sponsoring UAE company has to be actively conducting its business. If a partner offers sponsorship, it is reasonable to ask which category it files under, since a work mission differs from the self-sponsored visa.

Online channels run 24/7, and ICP's general visa issuance service for sponsors requires a UAE Pass login. Gulf News, in a feature updated in February 2025, placed the ICP option under Public Services, then Exploring Business Opportunities, with a reference number for tracking. Menu names may have changed since.

Documents for a UAE Business Visit

Lists differ between the federal portal, GDRFA Dubai and ICP. As of October 2026, the core set for the business-opportunities visa is short:

• A colour photo (ICP's FAQ asks for a white background)
• A passport copy valid for at least six months

Depending on the channel, applicants may also be asked for:

• An attested qualifications certificate, listed on the federal portal
• Proof of investment, listed by GDRFA Dubai
• Proof of financial capability, of a company abroad in the same activity, or of professional practice, under the ICP test announced in September 2025
• Health insurance valid in the UAE, a return or onward ticket, a guarantee document and a bachelor's degree, items that appear in ICP's 2024 services guide

Work-mission documents

ICP's live card lists a passport, photo, medical report, employment contract if one exists, an employer certificate in the UAE, a temporary job contract or letter of purpose, a medical fitness certificate for work, a travel ticket and, for announced categories, an attested good-conduct certificate.

For the Events Visit Visa, the core document is the organiser's letter with the event details and duration.

Processing Time - What Official Channels Say

Official processing times are stated in hours or days, not working days. As of October 2026:

• GDRFA Dubai, business-opportunities visa: 48 hours

• ICP, Issuance of a Visa service: 2 days

The clock starts once the application is complete, not when you open the form. If a document is sent back for correction, it is sensible to plan as if the wait restarts, although neither authority publishes a rule on this.

ICP and GDRFA publish no working-day timeline, no stage breakdown and no paid express tier for these visit visas. ICP says the visa is sent by email and can be downloaded right after issue.

Because entry has to happen within 60 days of issue, we recommend applying with a margin, but not too early.

Fees, Validity and Extensions

Unless marked otherwise, figures below come from official cards as listed on 23 October 2026 and can change before you pay.

Business-opportunities visa at GDRFA Dubai

• 60 days: AED 200
• 90 days: AED 300

GDRFA says the total may vary with circumstances, so we do not add these up. ICP says the guarantee is refundable on request after the visa is cancelled or the visitor leaves the UAE, if no residency violations were committed. No official refund timeframe is published.

ICP figures

ICP's live card for this visa was not available to check. ICP's 2024 services guide lists an AED 100 request fee, issuance at AED 100 per month for one trip or AED 200 per month for multiple trips, and an AED 100 e-services fee. The same guide sets the guarantee at AED 1,000 for one trip or AED 2,000 for multiple trips, with a refund request window of five years.

Gulf News reported in February 2025 that the ICP checkout showed totals of Dh1,555, Dh1,675 and Dh1,795 for 60, 90 and 120 days, each including a Dh1,025 deposit. That is a dated media snapshot, not a current price.

Validity and extensions

• Entry: within 60 days of issue (ICP), extendable for a similar period

For the work-mission category, ICP's live card lists AED 100 each for the application, the visit visa issuance and the smart service, with no guarantee line. The UAE employer files this application.

What You Can and Cannot Do on a Business Visit

According to the federal portal, on a page updated in September 2026, a visit or tourist permit gives no right to work in the UAE, and working on one leads to fines and legal liability.

No official page we found lists which business activities a visit visa allows. Official descriptions say only this:

• The business-opportunities visa is for researching and exploring business and investment opportunities (GDRFA Dubai)
• The Events Visit Visa is for attending conferences, exhibitions, seminars and similar events (ICP)

Gulf News reported in January 2026, citing MOHRE, that the mission work permit covers workers brought from abroad for a specific task or time-bound project, and that no one may legally work in the UAE without a MOHRE permit. MOHRE's site was unreachable when we checked in October 2026, so the permit's fees and validity are not covered here.

Recent Changes (2025-2026)

• 29 September 2025: ICP added four new visit visa categories, including the Events Visit Visa and a visa for AI specialists, and revised conditions for several existing visas.
• 29 September 2025: the same decision introduced a test for business-exploration applicants, who show financial capability suited to the activity, run it through an existing company abroad, or practise as a professional in that field.
• 25 June 2026: ICP expanded the 14-day and 60-day visa, adding Indonesia, Viet Nam, Thailand, the Philippines, Kenya and South Africa alongside India.
• July 2026: Gulf News reported a GDRFA Dubai clarification that Events visa organisers apply for a participant quota first.
• 10 September 2026: at the GCC tourism ministers' meeting, Qatar Tourism called for faster implementation of the unified Gulf tourist visa, which was still not operating.
• As of 23 October 2026, GDRFA Dubai's service card for the single-entry tourist visa lists AED 200 for 30 days and AED 300 for 60 days, plus 5% VAT.
