Visa-Free and Visa-on-Arrival Countries for Indians With a US Visa or Green Card (2026)

Your US visa or green card can replace a visa in Mexico, Georgia, Serbia and more, but Schengen, UK and Japan trips still need one.

Where a US Visa or Green Card Helps Indian Travellers (2026 Quick Answer)

A US visa or green card does not upgrade an Indian passport, but some countries accept it in place of their own visa, each on its own terms. As of October 2026, official government pages confirm these routes.

  • Visa-free with a valid US visa or green card: Mexico, Panama, Colombia, Peru, the Dominican Republic, Belize, Georgia, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Oman.
  • Longer stay: 30 days in the Philippines instead of 14.
  • Green card only: Armenia (until 1 July 2027) and Canada (no visa or eTA).
  • US visa only: North Macedonia (until 31 December 2026).
  • Simpler visas: Turkey's e-Visa, a 14-day UAE visa, Qatar's Hayya A3, Egypt's visa on arrival with a used US visa.
  • Transit: Singapore, up to 96 hours.
  • Still needed: a Schengen visa, a UK visit visa, Hong Kong's pre-arrival registration and, on the evidence found, a Japanese visa.

Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean

Mexico

Mexico's National Migration Institute (INM) accepts a green card, or a US visa that is valid and current (vigente) on arrival, in place of a Mexican visa, for stays of up to 180 days. Its page, published in March 2024 and live in October 2026, sets no visa category or used-visa condition.

Panama

Executive Decree 521 of 2018 lets nationals who need a Panamanian visa, Indians included, enter with a valid US visa or residence. Since Decree 196 of 28 October 2024, the only condition is that the visa is valid on the day you enter. Neither decree sets a maximum stay, so we recommend confirming yours with Panama's National Migration Service.

Dominican Republic and Belize

The Dominican Foreign Ministry (MIREX) says Decree 691-07 admits tourists with US permanent residence or a valid multiple-entry US visa on a valid passport and a Tourist Card. The page states no length of stay for this route.

Belize's Immigration Department waives the entry visa for visits of up to 30 days for holders of a valid multiple-entry US visa or a US Permanent Residence Card. Longer stays need a Visitor's Permit Extension.

Costa Rica and Guatemala are left out: their official pages could not be checked, so this guide has no official confirmation of a US-visa route as of October 2026.

South America

Colombia

Under Foreign Ministry Resolution 5488 of 2022 (list C, amended by Resolution 3717 of 2023), Indians can enter Colombia visa-free for a short stay with a valid US residence permit, or a US visa still valid for at least 180 days on the day of entry. A short stay is under 90 days, extendable up to 180 where the rules allow, and excludes paid activity.

Peru

The Embassy of Peru's visa FAQ, dated 22 March 2026, says Indian passport holders need no tourist or business visa with a US visa of at least six months' validity or US permanent residence. They can stay up to 180 days within one year.

Middle East and Turkey

Turkey

Turkey's Foreign Ministry says Indian ordinary passport holders with a valid US visa or residence permit can get a one-month, single-entry e-Visa online, if they meet certain further conditions. The Turkish Embassy in New Delhi accepts used or unused visas whose validity covers the entry date.

United Arab Emirates

GDRFA Dubai grants Indian ordinary passport holders a 14-day visitor visa, extendable once for 14 days, if their US visa or green card and their passport are each valid for at least six months.

As of October 2026, GDRFA Dubai takes applications online before travel and lists a fee of 253 (AED, though no currency is shown) and an expected 48 hours' processing. Airlines and other emirates may use other channels, so confirm with your airline before flying.

Oman

Oman's Foreign Ministry lets Indians resident in, or holding a valid entry visa for, the United States stay up to 14 days visa-free, with no extension or conversion to residence. It also asks for a passport valid at least six months, a return ticket, a confirmed hotel, health insurance and enough funds.

Qatar

Holders of a valid US visa or residency can apply on Qatar's Hayya platform for a Visa with ETA (A3): QAR 100 plus a return ticket. Many Indians can skip it, as the Ministry of Interior gives them a free on-arrival visa for up to 30 days, or the hotel booking's length, with a hotel booked only through Discover Qatar. Both rules were verified in late September 2026.

Egypt

Egypt's tourism portal says more than 180 nationalities can get a visa on arrival with a valid, already used US visa, for USD 30 at the airport bank counter. India is on the e-Visa list, and we recommend that route: as of October 2026, USD 30 single entry or USD 65 multiple.

Green cards are a grey area: the Egyptian Embassy in Washington lists a passport and green card each valid over six months for airport visas, but advises getting the visa in advance and confirming with the airline.

Europe Outside Schengen - Georgia, Armenia, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania

Georgia

Georgia's Foreign Ministry confirms 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa for Indians with a valid US visa or residence permit, valid on the day they cross the border. Border police may ask for proof of purpose, accommodation, insurance and funds. Since 1 January 2026, tourists also need health and accident insurance covering at least GEL 30,000 for the whole stay.

Armenia

Armenia's temporary exemption covers residence permits only, so it suits green card holders; B1/B2, H-1B or F-1 holders would use Armenia's e-visa. India is No. 49 on the Foreign Ministry's list of 111 countries (30 June 2026). The permit has to be valid at least six months from entry and shown as a physical card or passport sticker. The scheme runs from 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027, for up to 180 days within a year.

Serbia and Montenegro

Under a government decision of 30 October 2014, Serbia admits holders of a valid US visa or US residence permit for up to 90 days in a six-month period, within the document's validity. Its Foreign Ministry also accepts a valid US visa in an expired passport carried with the new one.

Article 7 of Montenegro's Decree on Visa Regime (English text of 30 July 2026) allows up to 30 days with a valid US visa or US residence permit, never beyond its expiry. The visa need not be multiple-entry or already used.

Albania, North Macedonia and Bosnia

Albania admits holders of a valid multiple-entry US visa already used in the US, or a valid US residence permit, electronic ones included. The stay has to end at least three days before the document expires; no separate maximum stay is stated.

North Macedonia waives its short-stay visa from 1 January to 31 December 2026 for holders of a valid multiple-entry US visa inserted in the passport: up to 15 days, with the visa valid five days beyond the stay. A green card alone does not qualify, and no official text on 2027 was found.

According to FIPA, a Council of Ministers agency, Bosnia and Herzegovina admits holders of a valid multiple-entry US visa or US residence permit for 90 days in any 180, up to 30 days at a time, within the document's validity.

Asia - Philippines, Taiwan, Korea Transit and Others

Philippines

Under Bureau of Immigration Memorandum Circular 2025-003 of 26 May 2025, every Indian tourist can get 14 days visa-free with a passport valid six months beyond the stay, a confirmed hotel, proof of funds, a return or onward ticket and eTravel registration.

A valid US visa or US permanent residence permit raises the initial stay to 30 days, with the same passport, ticket and eTravel rules and a clean record in the bureau's databases. Transit and seafarer visas do not count, and neither stay can be extended or converted.

Taiwan

Taiwan's Bureau of Consular Affairs (page updated 5 August 2026) confirms that Indians can apply online for a Travel Authorization Certificate (TAC) from the National Immigration Agency. Eligibility rests on certain foreign visas or residence permits; this guide could not open the agency's full list, so check that your US document qualifies.

South Korea transit

Korea's official visa portal still describes transit visa-free entry for US visa holders, but marks it Temporarily Suspended due to COVID-19 and shows figures dated 2022, so the status is unclear. Confirm with your airline or a Korean mission, and assume a Korean visa is needed to leave Incheon airport.

Singapore and Hong Kong

Singapore's 96-hour Visa Free Transit Facility covers Indians in transit with an onward air, ferry or cruise ticket within 96 hours and a US visa or long-term pass valid at least one month from entry. Extensions are not allowed.

US status changes nothing in Hong Kong: Indian nationals complete online Pre-arrival Registration (PAR) before a visa-free visit.

Where a US Visa Does Not Help - Schengen, UK, Canada, Japan

Schengen area

India is on the EU's visa-required list (Regulation 2018/1806, Annex I), which has no exemption for US visa or green card holders. US documents only waive an airport transit visa where one applies, and on the European Commission's list of 30 June 2026 that is just Czechia and Romania for Indians. Leaving the airport still takes a Schengen visa.

United Kingdom

India is on the UK visa national list (updated 3 August 2026), so Indians need a visa to visit the UK whatever their US status. The UK government's visa checker says a US visa, a valid green card issued on or after 21 April 1998, or an expired I-551 with a valid I-797 extension letter only waives the Direct Airside Transit Visa, for changing planes without passing border control.

Canada

US lawful permanent residents are exempt from Canada's visitor visa, and IRCC says that since 26 April 2022 they need no eTA either, just a valid passport and green card. A US visa does nothing for Indians: Canada's eTA route for US visa holders covers 17 nationalities, not India, so a Canadian visitor visa is still needed.

Japan

This guide found no official Japanese rule waiving the visa for Indians with US documents, so plan on a Japanese visa. Saudi Arabia is not covered: its official visa pages could not be checked.

Conditions That Trip Travellers Up - Validity, Used Visa, Green Card Status

How long the US document has to be valid

  • Valid on entry: Panama, Georgia and Turkey; Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia also end the stay when the document expires.
  • At least 180 days left on entry: Colombia, for US visas.
  • At least six months: Peru (US visa), the UAE (visa or green card) and Armenia (green card, from entry).
  • One month from entry: Singapore.
  • Five days beyond the stay: North Macedonia.
  • Leave three days before expiry: Albania.

Used and multiple-entry visas

  • Already used: Albania and Egypt's visa on arrival.
  • Multiple-entry: Albania, the Dominican Republic, Belize, Bosnia and Herzegovina and North Macedonia.
  • Neither needed: Montenegro. Turkey accepts used or unused visas.
  • Panama dropped its multiple-entry, used and six-month conditions on 28 October 2024.
  • The Philippines excludes transit and seafarer visas (the US C-1 and D types).

Status papers are not a visa

An I-797, I-94, I-20 or EAD does not replace an unexpired visa foil. According to the Mexican Consulate in Raleigh, as captured in mid-September 2026, an expired US visa stamp plus proof of legal stay still means applying for a Mexican visa. A January 2025 Turkish consular notice for US-based travellers likewise says officers recognise only sticker visas or green cards, so H-1B and F-1 holders with an expired stamp should check before booking.

Green card or visa

Armenia and Canada take only the green card, North Macedonia only the visa. We recommend carrying the physical card; Armenia asks for a card or passport sticker. Airlines check documents at boarding, so for the UAE, Egypt, Turkey and Korea, confirm with your airline first.

Recent Changes (2025-2026)

  • 28 October 2024, Panama: Decree 196 left one condition, a US visa valid on entry.
  • 26 May 2025, Philippines: 14 days for all Indian tourists, 30 with a US visa or permanent residence permit.
  • 1 January 2026, Georgia: health and accident insurance of at least GEL 30,000 became mandatory.
  • 1 January to 31 December 2026, North Macedonia: 15-day waiver for multiple-entry US visa holders.
  • 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2027, Armenia: residence-permit exemption, India included.
  • 30 June 2026, Schengen: the airport transit visa list shows India only for Czechia and Romania.

Temporary schemes lapse, so we recommend rechecking each official page shortly before you travel.

FAQ

Can I visit Mexico with an Indian passport and a US visa?

Yes, with a valid, current US visa or a green card, for up to 180 days. According to the Mexican Consulate in Raleigh, an expired stamp with an I-797 is not enough.

Do Indian green card holders need a visa for Japan?

Plan on one. This guide found no official Japanese exemption for Indians with a US visa or green card.

Does a green card remove the need for a UK visa?

No. A green card or US visa only waives the Direct Airside Transit Visa for changing planes without passing UK border control; a visit still needs a UK visa.

Is an Indian passport plus a green card enough for Europe?

Not for the Schengen area, which requires a visa. Georgia, Armenia (until 1 July 2027), Serbia, Montenegro, Albania and Bosnia accept the green card.

Can I leave Incheon airport on a layover with a US visa or green card?

We would not count on it. Green card holders ask this, according to applicant reports on Reddit in early October 2026, but Korea's portal lists the transit waiver as suspended. Confirm with your airline and assume a Korean visa is needed to leave the airport.

Can I get an Egypt visa on arrival with a green card?

Possibly, according to the Egyptian Embassy in Washington, but the tourism portal names only a used US visa. Confirm with your airline, or use the e-Visa from USD 30.

Does my US visa need to have been used?

Only for Albania and Egypt's visa on arrival. Montenegro and Turkey do not ask for it, and Panama dropped the condition in October 2024.

How long can I stay in the Philippines with a US visa?

Up to 30 days, against 14 without one, under the Bureau of Immigration circular of 26 May 2025. Neither stay can be extended.

Can Visarun help with the visas I still need?

Yes. Visarun helps prepare applications for Schengen, UK, Japanese, Korean and, for visa-only holders, Canadian visas. Approval decisions stay with the embassy or consulate.
