Cambodia stops issuing visa stickers at embassies from October 2026

Cambodian embassies and consulates worldwide have stopped placing visa stickers in passports as of October 3, 2026. All visas issued by Cambodian diplomatic missions are now electronic, though application procedures may vary by location.

What changed

Since October 3, 2026, Cambodian embassies and consulates no longer issue visas as physical stickers affixed to passports. All visas from these diplomatic missions are now delivered in electronic format. The change does not mean applications must be submitted entirely online - some missions, like the embassy in Bangkok, still accept in-person applications but deliver electronic visas instead.

The shift follows earlier changes made on August 1, 2026, when Cambodia expanded its e-Visa system to include diplomatic (A), official (B), and courtesy (C) visa categories. On the same date, Cambodia replaced the barcode on e-Visa certificates with a QR code for improved security.

Who is affected

Travelers applying for Cambodian visas at embassies and consulates abroad will receive electronic visas only. Application procedures may differ between missions. The Honorary Consulate in Osaka directs applicants to use the official Cambodia e-Visa portal, while other missions may still accept in-person submissions.

What remains available

Visas on arrival continue to be issued at Cambodia's three international airports and major land borders with Vietnam and Laos. The e-Visa portal remains available for eligible travelers seeking tourist (T) or ordinary (E) visas online.

Travelers entering Cambodia must also complete a separate digital arrival card (e-Arrival) within seven days before arrival, even if they hold an e-Visa.
