India has installed self-service biometric kiosks at airports in Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, and Thiruvananthapuram to speed up immigration for e-Visa holders. Travelers use the kiosks to scan their passport, take a photograph, and register fingerprints before a final check at the counter.
India's Bureau of Immigration has activated biometric kiosks at four major airports: Kolkata, Delhi, Mumbai, and Thiruvananthapuram. The kiosks allow e-Visa travelers to complete biometric enrollment themselves rather than at the immigration counter.

An immigration officer still conducts a final verification. This is not a fully automated border control system.
The kiosks reduce time spent at the counter from six to seven minutes to less than one minute for the final check. This aims to shorten arrival queues, especially during peak hours. However, travelers must first complete all kiosk steps before reaching the counter.
These kiosks are separate from the e-Arrival Card, which is a digital form submitted online within 72 hours of arrival.
The Airports Authority of India announced plans in September 2025 to install 22 kiosks across five airports. Additional airports at Chennai, Kozhikode, Tiruchirappalli, and Amritsar may receive kiosks, though this has not yet been confirmed as operational.
