Russia has changed registration requirements for foreign nationals staying over 90 days, effective September 2026. Indian tourists on short holidays are not affected, but those planning longer stays should check their specific registration obligations before travel.
From September 1, 2026, Russia has expanded its migration-monitoring framework to include foreign nationals who enter for non-work purposes and stay longer than 90 calendar days. This applies to people visiting for study, extended visits, or other reasons depending on their individual immigration status.
Indian citizens are not covered by Russia's Amina app requirement, which applies only to nine visa-free nationalities: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Ukraine. The Amina app is currently a pilot system in Moscow and the Moscow region that requires continuous geolocation tracking for workers from these countries.
Short-term Indian tourists visiting Russia for holidays are not affected by these changes and can travel normally.
