Which UK Visa do you need?

Standard Visitor visa

For tourism, family visits and business meetings. You can stay up to 6 months, and the visa costs £135. Approved visas are issued as an eVisa, a digital record linked to your UKVI account.

Long-term visitor visa

For frequent travellers. It is valid for 2, 5 or 10 years (£506, £903 or £1,128), but each visit is still limited to 6 months.

Transit through the UK

Indian citizens need a Direct Airside Transit visa (£41.50) to change planes without passing UK border control. To pass border control and leave within 48 hours, you need a Visitor in Transit visa (£74.50). A valid US, Canadian, Australian or New Zealand visa may exempt you.

Visiting Ireland on the same trip

Indian citizens who do not live in the UK can visit Ireland on their UK visitor visa after they have entered the UK, under Ireland's Short Stay Visa Waiver Programme. It runs until 31 December 2026, and the visit must end before your UK permission does.
