Which Sri Lanka ETA do you need?
Free tourist ETA
Free on eta.gov.lk for tourism, family visits and medical treatment. It allows two entries within 30 days and is usually decided within 48 hours. Apply before you travel.
Business ETA
Costs USD 55 for 30 days. The free scheme covers tourist trips only. It is issued by Sri Lanka missions abroad and the Head Office in Battaramulla.
Transit ETA
Free, for up to 2 days. Documentary proof of onward travel is needed.
Visa extension
Stays beyond 30 days need a paid extension. Apply online for up to 6 months, or at the Head Office. The maximum is 270 days from arrival.

Do Turkish citizens need a visa for Sri Lanka?
Yes. Turkish citizens need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), the online approval for Sri Lanka's 30-day tourist visa, and under the immigration notice effective 25 May 2026 it must be obtained before arrival. For Turkish citizens the tourist ETA is free of charge until 24 November 2026. You can apply yourself on eta.gov.lk, the official site of the Department of Immigration and Emigration, or have Visarun prepare and file it. An ETA on arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport is only a limited facility, so do not plan your trip around it.
How much does the Sri Lanka ETA cost for Turkish citizens?
The official tourist ETA is free of charge for Turkish citizens from 25 May 2026 until 24 November 2026, under Extraordinary Gazette No. 2490/02 and a Department of Immigration and Emigration notice covering nationals of 40 countries. No fee for later dates has been published yet, so check it if you travel after 24 November 2026. ETA fees paid before that date are not refunded. The free scheme covers the tourist ETA only; a business ETA is still charged at the regular fee. Visarun charges only its service fee for preparing, checking and filing your application on eta.gov.lk, with no government fee added.
How long does it take to get a Sri Lanka ETA?
The acknowledgement from eta.gov.lk says you will receive a response within 48 hours of submission. Visarun checks your details against your passport before filing, because the passport number, nationality and date of birth must match the passport you travel on. Apply before your trip: an ETA cannot be applied for while you are already in Sri Lanka, and a new ETA cannot be issued on the same passport while a valid one exists. Applications lodged at a Sri Lanka overseas mission are processed within 3 business days.
How long can Turkish citizens stay in Sri Lanka with the ETA?
The tourist ETA allows up to 30 days from the date of arrival, with double entry: you may leave and return within those 30 days, and the second entry only gets the remaining balance. Enter within three months of the ETA being issued; the approval notice prints the exact deadline. To stay longer, apply for an extension before your visa expires, online at eservices.immigration.gov.lk or at the Head Office in Battaramulla; fees depend on nationality. Overstaying more than 7 days brings a USD 250 penalty, and more than 14 days USD 500, plus the applicable visa fee.
What do Turkish travelers need for the ETA and at the border?
On the online ETA form your passport number, nationality and date of birth must match your passport exactly, and you must enter on that same passport, or you will have to pay for the visa on arrival. When you arrive, have a passport valid for at least 6 months from arrival, a confirmed return ticket, enough funds for your stay and your ETA approval notice. The tourist ETA covers holidays, visits to friends and relatives, medical or Ayurveda treatment and sports or cultural events, not work or business.
