Which Sri Lanka ETA do you need?

Tourist ETA

Costs USD 50 on eta.gov.lk. It covers tourism, family visits and medical treatment, allows two entries within 30 days and is usually decided within 48 hours.

Business ETA

Costs USD 55 for 30 days. It is issued only by Sri Lanka missions abroad and the Department of Immigration and Emigration Head Office in Battaramulla, with proof of the business purpose.

Transit ETA

Free, for up to 2 days. Documentary proof of onward travel is needed.

Visa extension

Stays beyond 30 days need a paid extension. Apply online for up to 6 months, or at the Head Office. The maximum is 270 days from arrival.

Do Brazilian citizens need a visa for Sri Lanka?

Yes. Brazilian citizens need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), the online approval for Sri Lanka's 30-day tourist visa, and under the immigration notice effective 25 May 2026 every foreign national must obtain one before arrival. You can apply on eta.gov.lk, the official site of the Department of Immigration and Emigration, or have Visarun prepare and file it. An ETA on arrival at Bandaranaike International Airport is only a limited facility at a higher fee, so do not plan your trip around it.

How much does the Sri Lanka ETA cost for Brazilian citizens?

The official tourist ETA costs US$ 50 when applied for online, through a third party, at a Sri Lanka overseas mission or at the immigration Head Office; the limited on-arrival facility costs US$ 60. Children under 12 get a free tourist ETA for up to 30 days. The fee is non-refundable and non-transferable. Visarun adds its service fee and pays the official fee for you on eta.gov.lk, the only site where ETA payments are valid.

How long does it take to get a Sri Lanka ETA?

The acknowledgement from eta.gov.lk says you will receive a response within 48 hours of submission. Visarun checks your details against your passport before filing, because correcting a mistake needs a new application and a new fee. Apply before your trip: an ETA cannot be applied for while you are already in Sri Lanka, and a new ETA cannot be issued on the same passport while a valid one exists. Applications lodged at a Sri Lanka overseas mission are processed within 3 business days.

How long can Brazilian citizens stay in Sri Lanka with the ETA?

The tourist ETA allows up to 30 days from the date of arrival, with double entry: you may leave and return within those 30 days, and the second entry only gets the remaining balance. Enter within three months of the ETA being issued; the approval notice prints the exact deadline. To stay longer, apply for an extension before your visa expires; the immigration fee table lists USD 60 or USD 100 for days 31 to 90, depending on nationality. Overstaying more than 7 days brings a USD 250 penalty, and more than 14 days USD 500, plus the applicable visa fee.

What do Brazilian travelers need for the ETA and at the border?

The online ETA needs no uploaded documents or photo, only exact details: your passport number, nationality and date of birth must match your passport, and you must enter on that same passport, or the visa has to be paid again on arrival. When you arrive, have a passport valid for at least 6 months from arrival, a confirmed return ticket, enough funds for your stay and your ETA approval notice. The tourist ETA covers holidays, visits to friends and relatives, medical or Ayurveda treatment and sports or cultural events, not work or business.
