Return or Onward Ticket

A return ticket, or a ticket on to another country, showing that you will leave Thailand.

Proof of Funds

Cash or equivalent of 20,000 THB per person or 40,000 THB per family, as required under the 30-day exemption.

Which Thailand Visa do you need?

Visa exemption

Free entry for tourism for up to 30 days. Carry 20,000 THB in funds and fill in the free TDAC. You can ask to extend once by up to 30 days for 1,900 THB.

Tourist visa (TR), single entry

Applied for on thaievisa.go.th before you travel. It is valid for 3 months and gives up to 60 days, which can be extended by 30 days. Each Thai embassy sets its own fee.

Multiple-entry tourist visa (METV)

Valid for 6 months, with up to 60 days per entry. It suits several trips within half a year.

Non-immigrant visas

For work, business, study, retirement or family stays. Visa-free entry is for tourism and does not cover these purposes.

Do Filipino citizens need a visa for Thailand?

No, not for tourist trips of up to 30 days. Since 15 September 2026, Filipino citizens can enter Thailand without a visa for tourism and stay up to 30 days per entry, under a Ministry of Interior announcement published in the Royal Gazette. There is nothing to apply for, but you must fill in the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before arrival. Work or business trips need a visa. The earlier 60-day visa-free rule no longer applies.

Is there a cost or waiting time for visa-free entry?

No. Visa-free entry costs nothing and there is no application to process. The only online step is the TDAC, which is free on the official site tdac.immigration.go.th and is completed within 3 days before arrival. If you need more than 30 days, apply for a visa at thaievisa.go.th before you travel, for example the Tourist Visa (TR) of up to 60 days per entry. Work or business trips need the matching visa.

How long can Filipino citizens stay in Thailand without a visa?

Up to 30 days per entry, for tourism. The stay can be extended by up to 30 more days at an immigration office in Thailand, solely at the immigration officer's discretion. Entries through land border checkpoints under this exemption are limited to 2 per calendar year. Overstaying is fined 500 THB per day, so keep track of the permitted date stamped in your passport.

What do I need to enter Thailand visa-free?

What happened to the 60-day visa-free stay?

Thailand revoked its 60-day visa exemption scheme from 15 September 2026 and expanded the 30-day exemption for tourism to 60 countries and territories; Filipino passports are on that list. Visitors admitted before 15 September 2026 under the old scheme may stay until the date stamped in their passport. For a stay longer than 30 days, apply for a visa at thaievisa.go.th before you travel; the Tourist Visa (TR) allows up to 60 days per entry.
