Which Indonesia e-VoA do you need?

Electronic visa on arrival (e-VoA)

Apply on evisa.imigrasi.go.id before you travel and pay IDR 500,000 by card. It is usually sent within 24 hours and must be used within 90 days. Enter through one of the listed airports, seaports or land crossings.

Visa on arrival at the counter

Pay IDR 500,000 at the bank counter in the immigration area, then get the visa sticker at the visa counter. It gives 30 days and can be extended once at an immigration office.

Tourist visit visa (C1)

For up to 60 days from arrival, extendable up to 180 days in total. The fee is IDR 1,000,000, and you need a bank statement showing at least USD 2,000.

Multiple-entry visit visa (D1)

Valid for 1, 2 or 5 years (IDR 3,000,000, IDR 5,000,000 or IDR 10,000,000), with up to 60 days per entry.

Indonesia e-VoA FAQ for British passport holders

Do British citizens need a visa for Indonesia?

Yes, British citizens need a visa, but they can use Indonesia's visa on arrival (VoA, visa index B1): either the electronic e-VoA, applied for online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id before you travel, or a VoA bought on arrival at a designated immigration checkpoint. Both allow one entry and a stay of 30 days from arrival, extendable once by 30 days. The VoA covers British citizen passports only: holders of a British National (Overseas) passport are not VoA subjects and need the C1 tourist e-visa instead.

How much does the Indonesia e-VoA cost for British citizens?

The official fee is IDR 500,000 for a 30-day stay, the same for the e-VoA and for a VoA bought on arrival. The e-VoA is paid online by debit or credit card; on arrival you pay at the appointed bank counter in the immigration area. Extending your stay by 30 days is charged separately, at IDR 500,000 in the official fee table. The All Indonesia arrival card is free, and visitors to Bali pay a levy of IDR 150,000 each time they enter Bali.

How long does it take to get an Indonesia e-VoA?

According to the Directorate General of Immigration, the e-VoA is sent to your e-Visa account and email within 24 hours after you apply and pay online. It allows one entry and must be used within 90 days of issue; after that you need a new visa. A VoA bought on arrival is issued at the counter and used immediately. Validity and stay are different things: your 30 days start on the date you arrive in Indonesia.

How long can British citizens stay in Indonesia on a VoA?

Up to 30 days from the date of arrival. You can extend once by another 30 days, to 60 days in total: e-VoA holders extend online at evisa.imigrasi.go.id, while holders of a VoA sticker extend at the nearest immigration office. The stay can be converted to another stay permit only through the bridging visa mechanism. If you know you need more time, the C1 tourist e-visa gives 60 days from arrival, extendable up to 180 days in total.

What do I need for an Indonesia e-VoA?

A passport valid for at least 6 months (12 months for temporary or emergency passports), a colour photo taken within the last year and a return or onward ticket. Enter through a designated e-VoA entry point: 16 airports, including Ngurah Rai in Bali and Soekarno-Hatta in Jakarta, 11 land border posts or 95 seaports. Every traveller must also complete the free All Indonesia arrival card from 3 days before arrival. On a VoA you may not sell goods or services or receive wages in Indonesia.
