Which Saudi ETA do you need?

Saudi ETA

For UK citizens. Costs SAR 50, is decided in 1 to 3 working days and is valid for 2 years with multiple entries and stays of up to 180 days. Each traveller, children included, needs a separate application on ksavisa.sa.

Tourist eVisa

Costs SAR 395 with medical insurance included. The multiple-entry eVisa is valid for 1 year and allows stays of up to 90 days in a row. A single-entry eVisa is valid for 3 months.

Visa on arrival

The same tourist visa is issued on arrival at airports and other entry points, at self-service kiosks or at passport control. It costs SAR 395 with insurance included.

Free stopover visa

Book a Saudia or flynas flight with a stop in Saudi Arabia and get a free stopover visa for up to 96 hours, valid for 3 months. An application fee of about SAR 39.50 and insurance from about SAR 13 apply.

Do British citizens need a visa for Saudi Arabia?

No visa is needed for visits: since 1 July 2026, British citizens can visit Saudi Arabia on an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA), applied for online on the KSA Visa platform of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (ksavisa.sa). The ETA is open to holders of all types of UK passports, allows multiple entries over 730 days and stays of up to 180 days, and covers tourism, business, short-term study, medical treatment and Umrah. It is not issued on arrival. The tourist eVisa and the visa on arrival, at SAR 395 each, remain available as alternatives.

How much does the Saudi ETA cost?

The official ETA fee is SAR 50 (about $13.5) per application, and it is non-refundable. Every traveller needs a separate application, including children, so a family pays the fee once per person. For comparison, the tourist eVisa and the visa on arrival cost SAR 395 each, with medical insurance included.

How long does it take to get a Saudi ETA?

The KSA Visa platform gives a processing time of 1 to 3 working days for the ETA. The authorization is not issued on arrival, so you must apply and receive it before you travel; plan for at least 3 working days before your flight. Applying through Visarun does not speed up the Ministry's decision. What we add is a prepared, checked application that matches your passport.

How long is the Saudi ETA valid, and how long can I stay?

The ETA is valid for 730 days (2 years) and allows multiple entries. The KSA Visa platform gives a stay duration of 180 days, and the Saudi Press Agency describes it as up to 180 days, consecutively or across multiple visits within one year. The ETA cannot be extended. If another option suits your trip better, the tourist eVisa is valid for 1 year with stays of up to 90 days per visit.

What do British citizens need for a Saudi ETA?

You need a passport valid for at least 6 months and a recent personal photo, and the application must be completed accurately to avoid delays. Each person needs a separate ETA, even children. The ETA covers tourism, business, short-term study, medical treatment and Umrah; Muslim visitors can perform Umrah outside the Hajj season after getting the necessary permit if required. It cannot be used for work, residence or Hajj, which need the relevant visa.
