Urgent e-visa

Extension of stay

Do British citizens need a visa for Azerbaijan?

Yes. British citizens need a visa to enter Azerbaijan, and the usual route is the ASAN e-visa, issued online through evisa.gov.az, the official electronic visa portal. It allows one entry and a stay of up to 30 days within its 90-day validity. Entry by road is suspended until 2 January 2027 and the Baku-Tbilisi train is open only to visa-free travellers, so e-visa holders arrive by air. If you stay more than 15 days, you must be registered at your place of stay.

How much does the Azerbaijan e-visa cost?

On evisa.gov.az, a standard e-visa costs a USD 20 state fee plus a USD 9 service fee for processing the application, USD 29 in total. These payments are not refunded, even if the e-visa is refused; a refused applicant may still apply for a visa at an Azerbaijani embassy or consulate. How long does it take to get an Azerbaijan e-visa?

According to evisa.gov.az, a standard e-visa is issued within 3 working days, and you should apply at least 3 working days before your planned arrival. The validity of a standard e-visa starts on a date at least 3 working days after the application is submitted. An urgent e-visa is issued within 3 hours, regardless of holidays and non-working days, and is valid from the day it is issued. Both are sent by email.

How long can British citizens stay in Azerbaijan on an e-visa?

Up to 30 days. The e-visa is valid for 90 days and allows a single entry, and your stay of up to 30 days must fall within its validity dates. Extensions go through the State Migration Service at migration.gov.az, and a new e-visa can be requested only after you leave Azerbaijan. If you stay more than 15 days, your hotel or landlord registers you with the State Migration Service free of charge. Paid work is not allowed on an e-visa.

What do I need for an Azerbaijan e-visa?
