Step 9: Visa Collection and Registration

Download and print your electronic visa. Verify all details immediately upon receipt. What Is the Check-Mig Form?

Check-Mig is Colombia's electronic border pre-registration system, managed by Migración Colombia. It replaced traditional paper entry and exit cards and collects personal, travel, and migration information before travelers board flights to or from Colombia. The form is completed free of charge on the official Migración Colombia platform and generates a PDF confirmation that travelers present at immigration checkpoints.

Who Must Complete Check-Mig?

Check-Mig applies to all travelers entering or departing Colombia by air, regardless of nationality. It is not required for land or sea border crossings (exemption in place since January 2023). A separate form must be completed for each trip; the form is not reusable across journeys.

2025 Status Update

Migración Colombia announced via official channels in January 2025 that the Check-Mig form is no longer compulsory. However, no formal written regulatory change or official gazette notice had been published as of mid-2026. Many international airlines continue to require Check-Mig completion as a boarding condition, and some Colombian immigration desks still request the confirmation PDF on arrival. Until a clear written withdrawal of the requirement is published, all air travelers are strongly advised to complete Check-Mig before every flight to or from Colombia.
