Passport Requirements
To enter Kazakhstan, your passport must be valid for at least 30 days from the date you arrive and have at least one blank page. If you require a visa for Kazakhstan, your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the expiry date of your visa. If your travel purpose requires a visa, you should keep at least two blank pages in your passport.
Electronic Visa Availability
Kazakhstan issues business, investor, medical treatment and tourist e-visas, which must arrive via Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport (Astana) or Almaty International Airport. Citizens from most countries can obtain an e-visa online, with some exceptions including Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Syria, and several other nations.
Transit Passengers
Travelers with Chinese and Indian passports do not need transit visas if they stay in the country for 72 hours or less and are traveling through Almaty International Airport or Nursultan Nazarbayev International Airport, provided they hold a valid air ticket and travel with any Kazakhstan-owned airline. Other transit passengers remaining in the international zone for under 24 hours typically do not require visas, but leaving the airport requires meeting standard entry requirements.
Visa Required Countries
Citizens from countries not listed in the visa-free categories must obtain a Kazakhstan visa before travel through embassies, consulates, or authorized visa centers. This includes many Asian, African, and Middle Eastern countries.
Registration Requirements
All foreign visitors, regardless of whether they entered with a visa or under the visa-free regime, must be registered with migration services within 3 working days of arrival. Your hotel or the person hosting you must register your arrival with the Kazakh authorities within 3 working days.
Verification Recommendations
Visa policies change regularly. Always verify current requirements through the official Kazakhstan Ministry of Foreign Affairs website or the Visa and Migration Portal of the Republic of Kazakhstan before departure to ensure compliance with the latest regulations.
